Bugs or birds won't shut up

I got constant screeching sounds even when in build mode. It's stuck even when I turn off the game sounds in options. I'm about to mute my computer. Really annoying. I think my game got corrupted or something but I don't want to start over and lose all my sims and houses. I think it started from Skyward Palms in Oasis Springs when I built on the empty 40x30 lot on the top left. Should I demolish the lot and see if it fixes the problem?
