I had a burglar coming to my Sim's house and steal things. My Sim woke up, I clicked the option to call the police station and got the notification that they are on their way, but nothing happened. The burglar stole a few items and left and no one showed up. Is this intended and normal that the police won't show up every time or is it a bug?

I'm having this problem too. After a long time without playing, I started a fresh new world, and when a burglar came I tried to call the police as my house didn't have an alarm. But they never came...
I don't use any mod or CC.
Please help !
I had a Thief show up in the middle of the night, I notice the thief and call the police. and watch the thief stealing half the house while my Sim was outside nude (with mosaic) in the rain talking to herself (lol love it) but the police never showed up is that normal for the police not to show or bug?
Fresh save. NEVER used ANY mods. It happend twice with 2 different families on 2 different lots (1 apartment, and 1 normal lot). Called the police and they never show up.
Edit: I'm going to deactivate the burglars because it's frustrating that they steal half of my house and I can't do nothing about it.
this is happening to me, they won't show up when the burglar shows up and I call them, or from burglar alarm, or when I call them for no reason from my phone. turned off all my mods and the issue is still here.
I've had the same issue, I call them but they don't show up. It is the same in three different new saves (created this week).
I even downloaded some cops from the Gallery to see if maybe the game for some reason did not create any, so that is why none show up, but they did not come either.
So now I have to fight burglars to try and get my stuff back. The first time it happened and the police did not show, she stole the rocket skip they had just build, and since I didn't know they would show up I waited for them. Big mistake 😅
Same issue, Xbox Series X. Burglar showed up, called police, message saying they’re on the way, no one ever comes. Happens every time, probably ten times in total.
Have had burglars hit I think 4 or 5 of my households. Have attempted multiple calls to police during same visit. Tried both not engaging as instructed vs engaging just to try and stop them stealing.. Once also froze them with magic and they stayed on my lot until I left and came back.
Not once have I ever, ever seen police come to arrest the burglar since they were introduced.

No CC or Mods. Have NEVER seen police show up EVER when called for burglary. New saves, old saves, yadda yadda.... Hope they can fix it!
SAME!!! I called it a fix in my comment but if it never worked to begin with, it's not really a "fix" persay.
