[BH] [SE] Buying Onsen as business lot causes lot type to become unchangable

So, my sim, who lived somewhere else, bought the Onsen lot as an small business lot. That changed the lot type to, obviously, a small business lot. Now, I want my sim to move to another place and I thought it would be nice to live above his Onsen business. I noticed I couldn't change the lot type when the lot was owned. So I sold the lot and thought to go there via the world map (build mode), change the lot type, move my sim there and then start over the small business as residential small business. However, I still couldn't change the lot type. Maybe, it was because the business was still his (although without a location), so I also sold his business. Still I couldn't change it. Well, saving the entire lot, then deleting it and then replacing it from my library. Still not an option, it didn't even give me the option of "as what lot type do you want to place it". Replacing it with a different lot type from my library then and then changing it? Still not an option, replacing it with a house, does change the lot type to residential, but then there is no dropdown menu either. Maybe it is possible to have a residential there, move there and then start a business, but then I have to build the entire Onsen lot out of my memory if I want it there, haven't tried that yet, and honestly don't like doing that, since it shouldn't be needed. Also, that still isn't a real solution, because let's say at some moment I want it to become the original Onsen lot type again, because for example the sim dies, then that still isn't possible.

  • Hi GAMINGTIM

for completions sake could you please add tags for mod usage (if you use any or not)  Thank you.

Please always provide this information so not to delay a bug report getting to Maxis. You can find more info about the adding thread tags to your post here: General Information About The Bug Reports Forum | EA Forums - 4965007

I gave this a test and I don't think you should be able to buy the onsen lot in the first place as it's a unique special building.

    Hi crinrict ,

just added, just fyi I only needed to add one tag to publish, so that's a bit contradictory.

Well, whether it should be possible or not, it is. Also, the Onsen small business preset, although you of course could open another own Onsen lot, is a bit confusing then (in combination with being able to buy it).

I also checked it in a new save (started without mods) and there the issue also appears.

  • Hi GAMINGTIM

yeah it's a bit of a problem cause you can't force a certain type of tag. Did you remove them or never have any ?

Even if you need to add two or thread you could just choose something entirely different.

And yeah, I've seen that you can and I think that's the bug.

    Hey crinrict

I removed them and the new save I tested it in was started when they were already removed, so that save never had mods (since it was a new one).

So, since my sim now moved to the lot next to the Onsen one (the big one) and placed the building there (as an Onsen small business including his house), do I need to restore the original lot (as in it could cause issues if I don't)? Or can I use it as something different? Since I can place a building out of my library and have the lot type changed that way, so that when i know what I want there then I place it there. In case I need to restore it: can I? If yes, how do I do that?

    Hi GAMINGTIM

thanks for clarifying. Just choose removed if you have any mods and removed.

I don't know if you can restore it. Not sure if there's an onsen lot type in the gallery. That would be the only way I think (other than poking around in the save game but I wouldn't know if there's a way to do it there.

The main problem will probably be that you won't be able to do any mountain excursions without the onsen lot but maybe it will work anyways.

    Hi crinrict

    okay, will do.

Well, not even need for the gallery, just saved the lot from a new save and then put it in my current save. That made it back to the Onsen type, also just tested if the mountain excursion would start and it does. Would that be everything to restore it or is there something hidden as well?

Still would be nice to be able to change it without messing things up though, now I have two Onsen lots next to each other (the original one and the house/small business one).
