can't click on objects in build mode or in live mode.

I was building normally and then my curser changed from the normal arrow to a camera and I couldn't pick up, delete or copy any objects. I went into live mode and I couldn't click on any objects so my sims couldn't do anything. This has happened twice in a row and both times i have saved and then restarted the game but it didn't fix the problem.
