When in Live mode, items in a Sim's inventory cannot be dragged and dropped in order to place them. It will just stay in the inventory. The only way to work around this is to click the item and then choose "place in world", but this doesn't work for items that don't have that option, such as the pressure cooker.

Drag & Place objects from a Sim's inventory does't work once you've left Live Mode— for example, after entering Build Mode, CAS, Travel, or Manage Worlds — and then return to Live Mode.Basically, what happens is that when you try to drag an item out of a Sim’s inventory to place it, for example, on a counter, it won’t let you do it and the item stays in the inventory.
You also can't move objects that are already placed outside a Sim’s inventory. They simply revert to their original position when you try to drag and place them— for example, when you try to drag a cake from the counter to a table, it just reverts back to the counter once you try to drop it on the table. When you then try to move them in Build Mode they just disappear entirely!
It also doesn't work the other way round — you canNOT drag items into the inventory either.
After leaving Live Mode: I noticed this is issue occurs once you've entered Build Mode or do any interaction to leave the lot, such as traveling, going into CAS, or entering Manage Worlds. The only time the feature works is when you load your save directly from the Main Menu via the Resume option. However, once you leave Live Mode in any way, it stops working at all.
Can't Interact: Intercations related to an object being placed correctly also don't longer work— for example, you can’t add birthday candles or wedding toppers to a cake. The option is grayed out as if the cake isn’t centered on the counter, even though it is. The only workaround is to close the game, load the save via Resume on the Main Menu, and then add the candles or toppers without leaving Live Mode even once.
It’s not a CC or Mods issue, as this happens in existing saves and brand-new ones with no CC and Mods at all/ with them disabled.

I know that theres a thread from a few months ago stating that the drag feature is fixed, but this is not my experiance. It worked briefly for me before promptly breaking again. I would also like to that certain items keep disappearing inventories which I mentioned because its relevent to how I discovered it was still broken.
Things like parts for upgrades, fruits and plants dont seem to disappear but homework books and toddler tablets go missing if you exit and reopen the game of even if you close their inventory while playing.
Because they go missing I try to repurchase and drag into my sims inventories and it won't work whether I drag it onto their icons or try to do it straight into their inventories.
You can no longer drag your pet bowls into inventory or out and you can no longer drag other items such as crafted crystals from crystal creations..... SooooOOOoo, yeah , I can drag my trash again finally after that disastrous EBN update.... but what about my pet bowls now? How about your crystals you made with 'Crystal Creations'? Nope. Cant drag those. God forbid this game fix one bug it comes with 1000 more annoying ones. This is absurd.
Do you guys play test this game at all, at this point?
No i dont use CC or Mods, never have never will your game struggles enough without them.
The game is registering essentially everything drag-able in my household as "Not Mine"... Meaning it is continuing to say i "Do NOT Own" Certain Items i had NO PROBLEM using, moving or playing with just two days ago prior to the update today on November 4 th 2025.
I just tested this now, the pet dish anyways. I don't seem to be having this problem myself. I don't know about the crystals because I don't have that pack. Maybe this is happening with specific pet dishes?
I am experiencing issues with dragging items from inventory. It does not happen all the time, but I am unable to determine the trigger. So far affected items are flowers and produce, seed packets, cat toys (mouse, bird, and wand), crystals, snow globes, photographs, soccer balls, trash piles, and books. It seems to occur spontaneously-- I was able to drag one rose from a stack to a pot but none from the same stack immediately thereafter and all other plants fruit and flowers in that sim's inventory became undraggable at that time. Not all affected items are always affected when it is occurring i.e., sometimes it is all the plants in the sim's inventory and sometimes just some plants. Stacked or not does not seem to be a factor. I have been unable to drag from a stack or drag individual items from within a stack. Once one sim is affected, other sim on same lot also affected so likely not sim specific.
To be clear: hovering over item in inventory-- single or stack, and pinch hand (index and thumb extended cursor icon) does not change to grab hand (closed fist cursor icon) on mouse click, though item box will change to grey state, and item cannot be "dragged" out of inventory.
Going in and out of Build/Buy mode seemed to fix it once but not again when it reoccurred (numerous follow up attempts). Leaving the lot seemed to fix a couple times but not every time. Logging out then back in seems to always resolve this problem but it does not stay "fixed" for long. Upgrade parts, dyes, cardboard dance floors, and soy wax do not seem to ever be affected.
I have spent way too much time trying to narrow this down with two sims whom I can consistently recreate this fail and I may return with more results from other sims and other items but hopefully this helps point someone in a useful direction.

I am experiencing this with ALL inventories (e.g., sim, crystal station, boxes, etc.). I can move one thing but will have to save and exit the entire game for it to show up in the new location (when moving from inventory to inventory). It happens with all items. It happens 100% of the time. It began after the 12/2/25 update. I play on PC. I have removed mods/cc. I have tried in a new save untouched by mods/cc. I have tried reapiring the game. Nothing works. It's basically rendered all inventories useless which, as you might imagine, makes it very difficult to play the game.
I can drag things out of the inventory now but when placing things from build/buy, things are still glitching and not placing. When I freshly load into the game, bb works really well but the longer the game is open, the less it works. I can usually get about 30 minutes of game play before it starts glitching and wont place items or lags when placing items.
Hello, regarding the inventory bug in refrigerators, bookshelves, and storage chests, I also had this bug. I use the “transfer inventory” mod by littleMsSam, and my problem is solved.
