Just chiming in here as heyjedikitty pointed out we're looking into this one, and hoping to get it into our next base game update in January.
No promises on timelines as our investigation could reveal more intensive work is needed which could delay a fix, but we are aware and working on it as we speak!
sad that we didn't get an update on this with January update. It has been 5 months since we've been able to generate a new save and this post has over 500 hundred votes at this point.

This is still a top community reported concern, and on our top 20 list. As I mentioned back in December, we were hoping to have more to share here in the January Laundry List but the issue proved more complex than originally thought.
Work does continue here, hopefully more to share soon!
