LunarBritney has made a mod fix for this on Mod the sims right now. So if you're a PC player you can get a fix for this until Maxis fixes it. LunarBritney also found out why this has happened. Edit. The mod just came out by the way.
Honestly, thank every deity you may or may not believe in for LunarBritney, but it shouldn't have to be the modders who take on the responsibility of fixing a game that the company breaks themselves and refuse to roll out a fix for. It's so disappointing to see it get to that point for something as important as this, at least for people who either already owned the packs before they broke or who bought the packs while they were still broken, ya know?
I can agree for bugs like this but to be safe that at least they are working on it. I do totally agree with you.
