I've got this problem too since installing the 1.116.202.1030 version. It affects some of the pets, I'd say around 10 % of them, and makes them pitch black. Entering paint mode in CAS makes the pet appear normal, leaving paint mode reverts them to black. However, painting something new on the pet seems to "heal" them. I painted a dot in the same color as the background fur and this recovered the original coloring. I haven't tried it in live mode but it seems to solve the issue, at least for me.
Edit: Recoloring didn't solve the problem long term, and I also noticed it copied the coloring of a totally different cat in my save onto the one I thought I fixed?
