This has to be one of those bugs that flies under the radar, because I just stumbled on the same thing.
I remember them shooing the cat/dog out of the bedroom/bathroom, but then they'd usually continue with whatever interaction was planned, and my sims still seem to be okay when going to the bathroom, but I guess pets in the bedroom is too much for them now.
Note to self, keep the pet beds out of the bedrooms until this is fixed (which as no one besides me and the OP seems to have noticed and reported it, may be a while...)
This has nothing to do with the pet bed being in the bedroom since pets can walk in there anyway, and even sleep on the bed. It’s still an issue by the way, bathroom and bedroom.
