I have an outdoor shower on a lot with minimalist furnishings and a log cabin on it. One Sim and his horse live there, and when my Sim wants to take a shower but the horse is nearby, he shoos the horse away and won't take a shower. So the shower around "animals" issue affect all and not just cats.
