Cheats not working

On ps4 when you bring up the cheat menu, it will let you type but when you hit the x button it does nothing. It doesn't show any words in the cheat bar and freezes onto the screen and won't go away, Causing me to have to go to the main menu to go back into the game to make the cheat bar go away.
