Just encountered a frustrating situation in one of my saves. I leveled up the skills for my toddler, thinking she was getting the milestones and saved. Later found out that her milestones was bugging out when i was doing that and she did not get those milestones. I had to go to manage world and load back in my lot for her milestones to work properly, but since I saved with the skills leveled up, I can't level them down to get those milestones. So now she's missing a large chunk of milestones because when I was leveling them up, they weren't counting for some reason and because of this bug, I can't lower the level to get those milestones. This is honestly really frustrating. And don't get me started on reborn sims who start as infants. When they age up, they already have their skills maxed, so you lose a large chunk of milestones as well, so you can't lower their skills to get those milestones as well.

This is a bug that has reappeared and happened in the September 2024 update (had to go to the archived Answers HQ post to remember when it was specifically posted). So, this has been going on for about 9 months now.

As of today, the cheats still not working to lower (or increase in my case) skill level. What brought me here was the situation with the toddler’s milestones. Since my toddler started with 2 skill points, I couldn’t unlock all motor milestones. So one bug highlighting another.
Is it ask for too much just get the game fixed? T.T I literally have every single little thing they released so far, and every new pack/expansion/kit/free update breaks the game even more…

I have the same issue. The cheat only works for increasing the skill, but not for lowering it.
Months ago this cheat worked. Please fix this, because alien-sims with high mischief-level are a pain... - lucombre3 months agoSeasoned Ace
I'm having this issue as well. I was trying to lower my sim's handiness and cooking skills to something reasonable since they're both really inflated but it doesn't work. This is frustrating since I really don't want all my sims to be super overachievers and I often use cheats to correct bugs in the game.

I’m having the same problem. I can’t lower my Sim’s skill level. I’m on Mac.

I rarely use this cheat. I increase all the time, but decrease? Hardly ever. Unfortunately, I need it for my current gameplay. I'm fairly certain it used to work.

Having the same issue. I play on PC, and when creating a new sim, I always create them with a predetermined set of skills that makes sense for their character and career. Not to mention if I change my mind, or when I have NPC sims that I'm editing that have been the town's bartender for 3 generations lol. This definitely worked a year ago before I took a break from the game.

I have the same issue. I tried to lower my toddler skill, to eventually raised it again, in order to work around the bug that prevent maxed out skilled toddler to get the Top Notch Toddler trait... this bug has been resolved only for toddlers not having maxed out their skills... that means, if I was able to lower one skill and cheat it back up then the game would recognized them as condition checked, reward Top Notch Toddler... only this does not work at all...
I hate using mod and do not want that, I also never used cheats except for few things, like work around bugs... but now the cheats are bugged, GREAT!

Still unable to lower skill levels. Like a lot of the others, I have no desire to use Mod's but sadly its starting to feel like they are an inevitable part of playing Sims 4!
