I have the same bug. I play without any mods. I have played with another sim family for a longer time, then I get back to my farm family and immediately within seconds the grim reaper takes all of my animals. The age for all of them was "one last pet", even though I have aging deactivated in the settings.
I then left the game without saving because I do not want to lose my precious animals. I will not resume playing the sims until this bug is cleared.
