[COL] Animals aged up and died with aging off (Patch 1.116.202)

The bug fix “Chickens, Cows, and Llamas no longer Age Up (and eventually die) when Animal Aging is disabled in Game Settings. Players rejoice, but Grim is sad.” is NOT resolved. I played in a brand new save file with aging turned off and my chicken still aged up and died.

**Note: I play on PC

This was for patch: 1.116.202.1030

Edit By Crinrict: Added pack tag to title, adjusted title

  •  I run a save with aging more or less entirely disabled, so I can use specific households for when I feel like using specific pack gameplay; I have lifespan set to "long", aging disabled for all but the currently played household, and aging for all types of pets and animals disabled.

Despite this, it seems like every time I return to a household after playing with another, Cottage Living farm animals and wild animals are all set to die off immediately upon loading into the lot, irrespective of any previous differences in age (in this instance, I knew my gold chicken was much younger than the other chickens).

I realised I had also had this when I played the last login event; I loaded one of the few households I have in that save with a child, only for the child to immediate age up into a teen upon loading in. I actually think this has happened before as well.

I've found a recent bug report for similar issues, but this is marked as "fixed" (https://forums.ea.com/idea/the-sims-4-bug-reports-en/col-all-animals-aging-updying/11853294). It doesn't seem to be fixed at my end, and it's kind of ruining the point of the save.

I am still encountering this bug, and I believe I've had the same issue with Sims aging up, even with aging restricted to active households only. Unfortunately, I play with two gameplay mods (both are up-to-date), so my file probably isn't a lot of use to you

I did just realise though, that the file I loaded where this bug happened is from November, and I have some older saves you can look at as well if they would be useful, despite the mods. Let me know.

  • I noticed yesterday that my mini goat and sheep are both elderly. I play on a PC, I have a few mods and a bit of cc. I keep animal aging turned off, but my mini goat and sheep are currently dying of old age (hope there's a few more pets left till the reaper comes for a visit). I didn't realize they had aged up until I noticed they were sleeping quite a lot in the day. Since animal aging was turned off, I had no reason to keep an eye on aging.

I do create a new save file after any updates, and in the previous one (before the most recent fixes (ver: 1.120.117.1030), the animals are still adults. That may be just a coincidence (or that they haven't aged up at this point), but I thought I would mention it anyway.
