[CoL] Animals not coming out of Shed/Empty Shed

Same Issue

I have an animal shed and the cow who lived there died [despite having animal ageing off]
My Sim bought a new cow - and as I recall it, usually the new animal just shows up after that - if it's late it wanders into the shed to sleep

The new cow never showed up, so I thought I might have mis-clicked something and bought yet another cow - who never showed up either

I noticed I could Assign Animal - and well, there were my two cows - greyed out so I couldn't do anything with them. Also, the shed said it already had an animal living there - just not what kind

I checked my Sims inventory and the household inventory - no cows to be found

The cows have now entered a stage of starving and general misery and I still can't do anything to help them
