My animals won’t come out of their shed. The sheds appear empty, and I don’t have the option to call anything out but it says it’s occupied by an animal.
sb: The shed gets dirty and the feed can be refilled as if there’s a cow/llama living in there but there’s no animal assigned.
I am having the same issue with animals not coming out, no ZZZ is shown at night, I checked my household inventory and the cow and llama (which i sold) where there but it wouldn't let me place them on the shed or normal ground, it says they need to be placed on a specific item, I thought that would've been the shed
If they are stuck in the household inventory, how do you get them out?
I have this same issue. Additionnally, this has caused other gameplay issues.
I have 2 cows, one dying (I constantly get the notification that she's getting up in age and only has a few pets left). When the grim reaper shows up, he is stuck trying to reap my cow. But because neither one of my cows can be interacted with (they're not stuck in my inventory, I am constantly reassigning them to the sheds, the sheds get dirty, sleep "zzz"s show up at night, but no other interactions are possible with them), the grim reaper is constantly in the back corner of my lot. I can't even interact with him because interactions are blocked until after the animal has been reaped.
A broken barn. After an animal dies, when I click "Buy Animal," the cow doesn't appear in the barn. When I choose "Place Animal from the list," the selected animal grays out but doesn't appear in the barn. The barn becomes dirty, the hay decreases, but the animal doesn't show up, doesn't leave, doesn't have a sleep icon above the barn, and doesn't respond to calls. Repairing the game doesn't help, nor does selling and repurchasing the barn. The same situation occurs when an animal remains in the family's inventory after returning from a festival.
I have a similar problem, but I can fix it if I get a sim to call the cow/llama out of the shed. Otherwise they will stay in there and slowly die without you noticing it
Hello! I’m aware that this bug has been reported already. I went through it’s main thread already dating back to 2 years ago (some others from 4 years ago and some dating back to when the Cottage Living expansion came out). However, despite the numerous reports and comments surmounting from previous years, the issue has yet to be fixed, let alone addressed (which is crazy because it’s been a well-known, mass-reported bug since the release of the expansion, and actually disrupts a huge part of the gameplay??). I just got cottage living in 2025 and this is still a bug. I was shocked to see the numerous reports gone ignored once I decided to look this issue up for a solution.
If you need to know what the issue is for the hundredth time, I cannot place a new animal in the animal shed. I downloaded a lot from the gallery that already had animals in the sheds, so I never initially put them there myself. When my llama died, I purchased a new one, but could not see it, and the shed appeared as though I could still purchase another animal while being occupied by one. There is no option to call the llama out or enter the shed. I still receive notifications regarding the llama’s welfare, but I can’t reach the llama to do anything about it. I’ve tried placing the llama from household inventory (said it had to be placed on a “specific object”….like thanks but that’s incredibly unhelpful), tried deleting the shed and assigning the llama, tried repairing the game, tried to leave the lot and come back again, etc., etc. None of it worked, and it’s 100% time for EA to step in.
Obviously, I’m frustrated. I was not expecting to face such a huge issue with no solution from an expansion I just now bought in 2025, 4 years after it was released. It feels like a waste of $40–I don’t even know if it will be addressed or fixed EVER considering it hasn’t been in all the years it’s been reported.
I swear I’ve read every thread on this, but if anyone has new ideas on how to help, I’d be grateful. Thanks in advance.
I'm stunned this is still an issue. I've had cottage living for a while but never tried out a farm family. I'm also dealing with unable to call out the cow/llama in the barn. There are times when the shed gets dirty and a sim can clean it, but I still can't see the animal or call it out. I've deleted the barn and bought a new one and it's still a problem. There are times when I've exited and re-entered the game and I can see the Zzzs but can't call out the animal. I've traded the animal and got a new one and still the same issue. It's frustrating!
