Crashing when saving

I've been trying to build in the Sims 4 for the last few days (since the update) but every time I click save the first few times it works and then on about the 3rd or 4th time it's just gets stuck on the saving screen. And I can't alt+tab out. I can open the task manger but then I can't click on it when alt+tabbing. So I end up having to restart my computer. The windows key also doesn't take me to my desktop.

What's strange is that I updated the game and my mods and spent the evening playing the Sims without issue. However it was the next day when I tried to play again when the issues started, even though nothing was any different from the night before.

I do use mods but they are all up-to-date and I don't have that many of them. I have cleared the localthumbcache, checked for updates on my computer, updated my graphics drivers, repaired the game and tried without the mods folder and its still happening.

If anyone has any advice or suggestions I would love to hear them.

If it helps to know I'm running the Sims 4 on a gaming PC and I never have any problems with any other games.

  • It's been happening to me since the last update. I just had to restart the computer and lost all my work in a house. It is so disappointing...

Same since the new patch and kits. Game crashes with no warning or error when trying to save, about a third of the time.

Losing hours of build and create a sim.

I think the Lovestruck travel bug is back too. Twice the game has crashed trying to travel to the Woohoo hotel neighborhood.

I also have a few basic updated mods, but this was happening in game after update with no mods at all for three days. Not mod related.

  • I took everything out of my Sims 4 folder and loaded the game. Had to start a new game and now I'm not having the issue even after copy and pasting my mods folder back in. So my only guess is that the update corrupted my save... Because clearly my mods weren't the issue.
