Click on an in ground garden patch, mounded in ground garden patch, hand fashioned garden box, or handmade garden pot with a fairy seedling in inventory and no other gardening collectibles in inventory, and Plant is greyed out because the sim "has nothing in his inventory to plant!" despite the tooltip on planting the fairy seedling saying you can select a planter box or garden pot to plant it. (I did not check all other planter boxes and pots.) It should be plantable anywhere other gardening plants can be planted.

I’m having the same issue. The option to plant the seedling doesn’t come up at all. I’ve kept it in my inventory and clicked on the ground, the seedling doesn't come up as an option. I’ve tried putting it on the ground/grassy area or in a plant pot/plot and the only option given is “put in inventory”, not plant.
No cc/mods used. Neither of my sims are occults. I’ve tried with two different sims.
Only options that come up for the seedling are “place in world” and “put in inventory.”
Is your Sim a half-alien ?
Did you try other Sims ?

Same issue for me. Played as Iris Ladipo and acquired the fairy seedling. The option to plant the seedling is greyed out, as if the game didn't recognize the grass terrain as grass. It's impossible to put into a planter or a plant pot, the game doesn't let me. CC and mods disabled. The Sim is not occult.
did you try a planter ? Do you have a tool tip on the greyed out option ? Yours sounds different as you do have the option.

Upvoting this issue. I am also having this problem. The fairy seedling is unplantable.
The only visible options when clicking on the seedling are to place it in the world or put it in inventory (depending on whether it is in or out of the inventory). I can't place the seedling in planter pots. It's as if the game simply does not recognize the seedling as a plant seed.
The problem persists when mods are disabled or removed.
So long as this problem persists, it's impossible for a sim to summon Mother Nature or become a fairy through gameplay.
