There has always been a real bad issue with the game creating a lot of random NPC Sims. But the latest patch and the event really exploded the number of NPC Sims being generated. Probably causing / worsening the lag issue reported here:
Huh, I wonder if, as a byproduct, it's what's been causing frequent "crash to desktop" I've been experiencing lately. Because my game can run for literal hours if I'm in CaS, B/B or if I leave the game in live-mode but paused, (I tested this by leaving the game idle in CaS and B/B while I had a shower and made dinner this evening), but I can hardly stay in livemode unpaused for more than 20-30 minutes without it just randomly crashing. (I do play with mods, but I removed them, repaired the game and then tested a clean save with no mods, and the game would just crash unexpectedly.)
I've been having frequent crashes to desktop as well and I also wonder if it's linked to excessive townie generation.
