I am bumping this thread one more time and sending my thoughts out into the void in hopes that these many game breaking bugs will be fixed someday... As a Simmer of over 20 years, I cannot stress enough how the tides are changing in a way I've never seen before. The lack of communication on the gamebreaking bugs occurring nowadays, I am simply going to say it does feel disrespectful. Many of us have invested hundreds, thousands of dollars into this franchise over our lifetimes, and we genuinely love to play these games.
When these catastrophic bugs are occurring that we see no fixes for for months or even years at a time, no back and forth communication is happening, and the content that continues to get churned out also keeps contributing new bugs... I have never felt more worried about the fate of this franchise.
I fear this series has gone the route of SimCity and will reach a similar conclusion. As Cities Skylines came along and removed SimCity from its monopolized throne, the other two life simulation games in the making right now are similarly chomping at the ankles of The Sims right now.
I don't know if you can sense my actual panic and devastation I'm feeling about how this franchise has been handled and where it's going, but there it is. I've never gone this long without playing Sims games before, it's been almost a year now personally, I think these Sims Droughts have become increasingly common for many of us in recent years as we just wait for bug fixes. The spaghetti code is simply too spaghettified for many and it's bursting at the seams. My storyline is abandoned and now I'm just gonna likely have to try to make all my characters in another game someday and continue the story there.
At this point as there is no Sims 5 in the works, I at least hope for bug fixes for Sims 4 that could potentially bring us to a point of playability, and a dignified end for this series while the Torch is passed.
