Eyes/Eyelids Issues (Patch 1.110.265/2.01)

Hello,

Since my bug report been archived and lost in the deep mountain, I restart a new one with all the updated ressources. TESTED WITH AND WITHOUT MODS/CLEAN SAVE, THIS BUG OCCURS ALL THE TIME.

I am a modder and an animator and it seems that the eyelids doesn't translate correctly in the game like it used to be since this bug was introduced, and it's still there with the new patch. When the sim looks downside, the bottom eyelids don't move at all, making sims looks creepy (the eyes go inside the eyelid).

I did some animations with the eyelids moving down while the eyes are looking down, and the animation from the eyelids doesn't translate correctly in the game at all. It affects any animations in the game right now.

This is an example using CAS with maxis animations, where the eyes aren't closing completely due to the eyelids animations not translating correctly in the game. Before the eyelashes patch, they were closing just fine.

This is a gif from 2022, so without the bug :

For developpers/animators :

I did another test, just to show you how terrible this thing is.

For this test, I did a simple sleeping pose I will use to demonstrate the bug, because unfortunately it's the only way to explain the issue more properly, by comparing in an animating program and then how it translates in the game.

To achieve this result in the game with the eyes being closed like this :

In a posing/animating program, I had to do this :

There is clearly an error of how the eyelids translate in the game since the lovestruck patch. I'd like to know if maxis is aware of this issue and if they will fix this, as it affect every animations in the game.

If I'm closing the eyes as usual in the program,

this is the result I get in the game :

And no, it's not the program fault. This happens since the lovestruck patch and again, it affects all the animations from the game, even the vanilla ones. I believe a data from the eyelids or something similar has been touched and it needs to be reverted back.

I appreciate the DEV providing some info on this, but this is exactly why the eye bug issues should have been fixed right away after the patch. They have released so much content since the eye bug issues were introduced that it's now much more complicated to fix than it would have been if they prioritized right in the beginning.

Also, are they still looking into the lighter eye lashing with preset eyes bug? That one also impacts the appearance of the Sims.

Every time they tell us that it's tricky to fix etc, I get the feeling that they're still trying to fix each animation separately, instead of reverting everything back to what it was before the addition of eyelashes, and after that make it so that the eyelashes fit the eyes instead. By trying to fix each animation separately they're just digging a deeper hole.

As I wrote in this thread, on the 16th of September, the issue isn't just about sims not closing their eyes properly, the issue is that all eye animations are affected because of the changes that were made to the eyes when they added eyelashes. My take is that the only way for them to fix it properly is to revert it back.

The fact that it's already been this long and without hardly any fixes besides a few fixed animations is just worrisome. Even in that DEV's reply, the DEV said that whatever they tried to do to fix the problem just caused other problems. They refuse to revert which is probably the only way these eye bug issues could ever be fixed. At this point, I have a low hopes that these eye bug issues will ever get fixed. I would like to hear an honest answer from a DEV on why they refuse to revert. Another thing is that they sure don't like to communicate very well which is also adding to the problem.

Well, it's a sad thing that these eye bug issues are still a thing in TS4. It's been over a year since many of us can't progress with our Sim stories because we can't take proper screenshots. The question is why did they let these eye bug issues go so long making it even more difficult to fix? Were those base game eyelashes really worth it? I hear talks of a potential remaster to TS4 in development. Whether that is true or not, I don't know. If it is true, then perhaps they will figure this all out.

As mentioned already, I have to now move away from TS4 because it's just been too long not being able to continue on with my main story, and I need to continue on. No, Inzoi or any of the other competitors is not the answer for me. They will never live up to the memories that TS4 has brought. The answer is AI! Technology has gotten pretty decent. W can get pretty consistent characters, AI companions, and voice design. The worlds and dreams are endless. I'm in the beginning process of continuing on with my story with AI. Based on what I've seen so far, it's beautiful.

Also though, I just wanna thank EA and Maxis for making TS4. It's been 10 years of memories since the beginning of Sim story. It's like reality! So many precious moments that were experienced. If they ever do get these eye bug issues fixed, perhaps I might come back. We'll see where my story goes from here. Also, I want to thank you for working hard on fixing that save corruption bug. I read the most recent new about what you guys are doing about that. Thank you.
