I have updated my game, the hot fix of March 18th, and my game still doesn't launch with cc installed. I still get the message "Failed to launch game" when cc is installed.

I have been playing sims for about 20 years and I have to say I'm very disappointed right now. Ever since the new update my game will not load about 90% of its CC that I have spent YEARS collecting and now the game will not even launch. Some of the CC content I have paid for through patron and not to mention all the money I have spent in EA to play sims 4. Are there any solutions to this issue? I've tried to do multiple things to see if is would fix the issue. Obviously I have had no success.
Hi! I had the exact same problem after the latest patch, and I managed to fix it. Here’s what worked for me:
- The update corrupted a few CC package files.
- Even ONE broken file can stop the whole game from launching.
- I fixed it by testing my Mods folder in small batches until I found the corrupted files.
- After removing those, the game loaded all my CC normally again.
It’s a bit time‑consuming, but it really works. If your game won’t launch at all, start by testing half of your CC, then narrow it down. I found only 3 bad files out of a lot of package, and everything is working now.

Which CC did you have that were corrupted? Asking so I know just in case I have those files.

Hi! I just wanted to follow up on my previous comment. At first I really thought some CC in my Mods folder had been corrupted by the patch, because removing everything actually let my game load again. So I assumed the issue was caused by “bad CC” and tried to help based on that.
Unfortunately, I later realized the problem wasn’t CC-related at all. Even after completely cleaning my Mods folder and rebuilding it from scratch, the issue came back exactly the same. So yes — I learned the hard way that this is a game bug, not a CC problem.
Sorry for the confusion. I genuinely thought I had found something useful, but I ended up in the same loop as everyone else. Fingers crossed for an official fix soon.
