"fertilize all" and "evolve all" interactions on plants in community gardens

In the past, sims are not allowed to fertilize or evolve the plants in community gardens, but the newly added "fertilize all" and "evolve all" interactions appeared on these plants. I don't think this should happen.
If sims are supposed to be able to fertilize/evolve these plants, please add the normal "fertilize..." & "evolve" interactions for them.
If sims are not supposed to be able to do so, please remove the "fertilize all..." & "evolve all" interactions.

Besides, the evolving doesn't seem to work properly. The community plants are evolved to [excellent], but the harvestables are still [normal] quality.

  • Wait...these work for you?  I tried "Fertilize All" multiple times with several of my families and they didn't work.  I would select the action, the Sim would stand in front of the plant.  Then the action would go away and nothing happened.  I figured it was like every other change EA makes, seems like it doesn't work right for about six months (or more).

  • This should be a bug report, not a feedback post. It is a bug/oversight and not intended behavior, as community plants are handled specially and are not meant to grow in this way.

I thought I posted it as a bug report and I even remember seeing the [new] tag when I checked it after posting? Maybe I remembered it wrong or it is moved by a community manager. I'll see if there's a way to figure out what happened. Thank you for letting me know :)

  • 131knf  Your original post seems to focus on the fact that the new options appeared, and if that part was confirmed to be by design, a community manager could have moved the thread to Feedback.

For the harvestable quality, how long did you wait before you checked?  It's possible there's a delay between when the plant is evolved and when the harvestables match the new quality, especially on community lots.  I'd give it at least 24 sim-hours, or until you've harvested these items and seen new ones grow back, before saying the harvestable quality doesn't change.  If that is in fact the case, it's worth making a new bug report just for that aspect.

Kantar66  Are the crops oversized?  I ask because I did see this bug report:

[GRO] Fertilize all oversized crops does not work | EA Forums - 12297980

but nothing about regular crops yet.

I harvested them everyday to test. When the plants evolved to [nice], I harvested them and the harvestables are [normal] quality. I found it weird and decided to wait and see. It takes them several sim-days to evolve to [excellent] (I harvested the harvestables everyday in the meantime), and it turns out that harvestables are still [normal] quality.

I'm not going to make a new bug report because ① I don't think EA cares. ② Indeed, the harvastables' quality is not my main concern. As you said, I mainly care about the new options.  ③ It's sad that I have to repeat myself because they ignored this thread. Writing such a bug report is tiring for a non English-speaker and I don't want to waste my mental energy to write something that is very likely to be ignored again.

Thank you for your reply :)

  • 131knf  I do think EA cares in theory, but the situation with bugs is always triage: they're attempting to address the most pressing issues first, and maybe clear out the easy fixes.  That's not to defend how the process is handled, only to say I can see why it is the way it is.

I would suggest it's worth posting a bug report for this specific issue again just to have it documented.  If enough other players care and post the same, it might get some attention.

If it's easier for you, you could write in your native language and use a translator app.  There's no shame in that, and I know people whose English is very good (better than some of the people I went to school with) who still use one for bulk translation.  The best one I know of is deepl.com, which is free.  It's not perfect, but bug reports don't need to be perfect, just detailed enough to be useful.
