I experience the same, still having events with the setting set off. Although I've not have any revolts nor animal drives or such.
The events I have had and remember (I just chose the expensive contractor when I get the events so I'm not really paying much attention to the notifications).
I have seen the ghost event several times as well as the water leak and I believe the electric one and I have a a few of the mold ones as well. But the water leak is the one most often I believe.
I play as the landlord because I want to have control of the property, but I don't want to actively be/ play the landlord really. And that is a must with the events still happening when the setting is turned off.
