I have this issue randomly. When I open the game, after the usual popups, it goes to the menu screen which is greyed out slightly, and I cannot click ANYTHING. The only thing that I can do is force-quit using my control panel. Then if I do restart the game it usually starts normally again, but this is annoying. It has been happening off and on since I started playing Sims 4 a couple of years ago, but does seem to be happening more after the latest game update, the one that came with Enchanted by Nature, a pack I don't even own yet.
I have a standard edition game. I own expansions: For Rent, Growing Together, Cottage Living, Eco Lifestyle, Discover University, Island Living, Seasons, Cats and Dogs, City Living, Get Together, and Get to Work. Werewolves, Dream Home Decorator, Journey to Batuu, Realm of Magic, Strangerville, Jungle Adventure, Parenthood, Vampires, Spa Day, Outdoor Retreat. Paranormal, Nifty Knitting, Tiny Living, My First Pet, Laundry Day, Fitness, Bowling Night, Backyard, Kids Room, Romantic Garden, Cool Kitchen.
I can't remember every Kit I own, and I doubt one of them would be causing this. My game is updated to the latest version, so you should know the version number.
I do play with mods, but none of them are causing this. Please fix your game.
