Game breaking down after a while

Since the February 3rd update, I experienced a bug, a VERY annoying bug. After a while, maybe like a few real life minutes or so, I make my sim do something and, because I don't want to sit there forever to have them finish, I put the game into fast forward mode and then once they're done, I attempt to put it back to normal speed... but it won't do it... and then I try to have my sim do something else, but they won't they're stuck. Then if I try to save and exit the game, it won't save, nor will it exit... I have to resort to using task manager to close out the Sims 4 and lose all my progress... Please fix this because I'm absolutely TIRED of losing my progress!!!!!
