Ideas
Now that I have played for a few more hours, I can say that this bug (if it's the same bug) is expressing itself in two different ways:
- Version 1: "Achieving milestone" action progresses in queue, pop-up appears, and child performs an appropriate movement/animation (sitting up, rolling over onto back, etc). Purple popup DOES appear in notifications... but milestone does not appear in Sim panel. May repeat several times over in-game hours in response to relevant actions (e.g. babbling, playing with toy, whatever).
- Version 2: "Achieving milestone" action appears in queue and begins to progress, and sims nearby react appropriately (taking photograph, autonomously watching, et cetera). However, despite baby beginning to move/sparkle, "achieving milestone" drops from queue and nothing happens. May repeat several times over in-game hours (this is really disruptive because everyone drops everything to watch the milestone not happen a bunch of times and stands around overly long while the animation fails to complete)
Both of these are fixed by moving the entire family out and then moving them back in. Removing the baby from the household and re-adding them definitely did not fix "version 2" but I haven't tried it with "version 1."
I am just moving my family out and back in every time they leave the lot now to pre-empt this issue. Hilariously, this starts the welcome wagon every day so the toddlers are raised entirely on fruitcake and have a permanent sugar moodlet...
