I'm afraid there's nothing you can do. Only EA can fix this.
There is a nice mod by LittleMsSam that allows the player to choose whether prom should be added to the calendar (if you're tired of having it every week). Unfortunately, it does not help in this case.
However, perhaps some modder knowledgeable in all things "calendar" might be able to come up with a mod that forces prom to be added to the calendar immediately (for example as an option in the context menu of the homework book or whatever)?
