My sim wore the following shorts (no top) when sunbathing and this is the tan he ended up with:
Playing on Windows 11, no mods, no CC, almost all packs installed (just a couple of kits missing). Note that I have never used cc so it can't be down to that.

I have basically the same problem, but in my case, her tan is correct when she's wearing anything other than a swimsuit. She tanned in a normal bikini, but when in that bikini or any other swimwear, her legs are white down to the knee, as if she had tanned in shorts. But in other outfit categories where her legs show, they are totally tan like they should be.
This is part 1 of this bug, which is a twofer I encountered in recent gameplay (the other part will be reported as "Tans Become Permanent")
As you can see in the snippet photos below, the tan markings are not actually aligning to this specific outfit. Specifically they have tearing at the chest that isn't present in the clothing that was tanned in. This is largely a small concern if it weren't for part 2 of this bug which is that these lines became permanent.
I also have a Sim who gained a strange checkered pattern sunburn. The pattern does not match any of their outfits nor their household member's outfits.
Seems quite similar to mine, it's a bit random. But I think it depends on who got a tan first or sum. Because my sim's husband receives his wife's tan in the instance i posted on. But, sometimes if he got a tan first (after the game's natural reset) she gets his. It's so annoying. Atm their kids are still smaller, but I just know this'll be a nightmare once they age up to teens 😭 Kinda thinking of finding a mod which might "fix" it in the meantime until it gets an actual fix from the game but idk.

One of my sims will always get the same tan as the other one, who sunbathed first (usually). I initially thought it might be a mod-issue. But since removing them all (as u can see from the second screenshot) the problem still persists. Both the fem sim who had a previous tan, didn't get hers changed to the new one. And the male sim, did not have a tan at all previously and now got her old tan. HELP! This has to be a bug right?
It's hard to tell but it does look like one of his sister's bikini tops. I guess it should be merged with the other thread in that case, sorry - I searched 'suntan' and it obviously wasn't the right word - so difficult to find threads here!
