To add another wrinkle, I went to a different house. I play multiple houses. This house had not been played only the house built and the family created. All storage objects were empty, including the fridge. As I purchased groceries and put them away, some in the fridge, the sticky problems did not manifest itself. Everything worked normally. Most of my groceries go into custom content storage, but even the Maxis storage did not have a problem. I will add that most of the things that grow I do not put in the fridge but in custom storage where they do not have the "sticky" problem. My fridges usually only have cooked foods and perishables. However in this new family none of the perishables were from Maxis, but were from food modders.
Strange because back when I was testing with a new save, the problem came quickly, and it was only harvestables that I was testing because I did not have any mods in the test save, so harvest items were the one that I tried out. And they all stuck in the fridge. It would appear that whatever the issue is it is tied to Maxis harvest items, possibly also their milk, eggs, and grass.
