does it finish the repair and then just break again when you use it ? Was it always the same laptop or did you buy a new one in between ? Did both Sims repair the same laptop ?

The two sims have repaired the same laptop, I kept the same computer to have it fixed by another sim. The sim performs the repair to the end, and the computer breaks again before you can use it.
Could you test if it happens again with another laptop ?
Just use some method to break it like putting it out in the rain.
With a new laptop of the same model, no repair problems and the different possible options are displayed correctly (contact repair service, replace... ) crinrict
Sounds like something is broken about that laptop.
Was the first time this happened ? Did you play the last limited event with the same computer ? Just pondering if the blast from the past task has anything to do with it.
