Since today's update (July 23, 2024) I noticed the sims in my game (both my sims and the other sims) are being mean for no reason. First, my sim's visiting best friend yelled at her, the next day my...

As for a fix, try turning autonomy off in game settings.

Doesn't fix the problem because conversations between sims are always going to be autonomous (even with autonomy off) to keep conversation flowing. Even if you're able to quickly cancel an autonomous mean interaction as they appear in your queue, the sim you're conversing with is inevitably going to be mean to the sim that you're currently controlling, so the conversation is pretty much doomed to take an unpleasant turn. I'm putting the game aside until they fix this.

I turned atonomy off in my game and have had no mean interactions since. I rebuilt their relationships and they have not gone down. They don’t interact unless I tell them to. They will still go to take care of the newborn. It’s not a great fix because I have to micromanage each sim more than normal. It’s an option to at least make it until they fix the issue.

They don't interact until I tell them to either, but this doesn't fix anything. Once I opt to have two sims interact in dialogue, it's only a matter of time before one or the other starts autonomously (yes, even with autonomy turned completely off) yelling or shouting forbidden words. Can't understand how you're not experiencing the same thing unless you're not actually allowing for a conversation to flow between them.

I started a new game (to ensure my games that I have been running and put a lot of work into, don't get ruined) to try any suggestions. I turned off autonomy and I found it does not solve the problem. Sooner or later either my sim or any sim she is conversing with insults the other. The good thing is my sim is able to apologize immediately after either insulting or being insulted and everything is okay. I can't always stop my sim from insulting others. It happens so fast.
Until they fix this problem, I am going to hold off on playing the sims that I have been running and only play the experiment sim.

It was a suggestion from a YouTuber during the 2022 mean bug issue. I’m sorry it doesn’t work for you. I always have my sims grinding skills and work tasks so it works for me as a work around.During conversations I just briefly spam positive interactions then have them do something else.
Hopefully they fix it super fast because it’s counterproductive to the new expansion pack.
It’s good apologies work because they did not the last time I experienced the mean bug. I’m not looking forward to seeing if the work around works for infants and toddlers. I have a newborn in the household. One of my sims from another game months back got bitten and had a festering rage over a toddler biting him. Toddlers and infants are too young to apologize I think. Sorry it didn’t help.
