Apologies for posting in an old thread, but this just started happening to my sim. And it only started happening after giving her the "always welcome" trait. It seems like it also makes all other sims always welcome to the point that they just enter your house without knocking and then they are stuck there, no option to send them home either.

It's interesting that you might see yet another cause yet.
Could you do some testing if it continues to happen if you remove that Sim with the trait (or use cheats to remove the trait) on a backup of your save ?
This is interesting. My sim also has the "Always Welcome" reward trait, and I had an NPC sim randomly barge into my house and start making a white cake. No relationship, no keys, no invitation. I wonder if the trait is the cause, or at least related.
This was in 17 Culpepper in San Myshuno, of City Living pack. Don't have For Rent.
No mods, no cc, new save file, fresh install.
