Could you describe what happens if you try ? Is the option greyed out ? Do the sims reset or ignore the order ?
- chose the option to 'Put in inventory', nothing happens (ignores the order)
- tried to drag the bed into the inventory directly and even tried to sell it, the bed just 'sticks onto the mouse pointer' and automatically goes back on to the ground
- tried to reset my sim and redo the command, same results as the above

I can duplicate this as well. I get a lastException for both variants of the bed (single/double)
and I actually found an existing report for this. Seems this is an older bug.
Do we know when this is getting fixed? This is still an issue for me :(
