Just encountered this bug for the first time on PC. There has to be a fix. This is save breaking. 😭 I have a lesbian couple with four children who are now considered sisters. I want my game back, please. Restarting or killing someone off are the only actual "solutions" I have seen anywhere and I dont consider those real options.
I ended up kind of "fixing" it.
I went in to CAS and uploaded my family to the gallery. I went out to manage worlds and clicked to create a new a new family to move in. I imported the family from my gallery. I fixed their relationship in CAS and before placing them I changed the last name in CAS, but also when you go to place them and you get a chance to name the household, I made that different as well. I was just trying to make as many slight changes as possible to try and avoid the bug sticking.
They are no longer sisters, yay! They did lose all friends, relationships, and their inventories. However, they retained milestones, aspirations, traits, careers, and university progress which I was pleasantly surprised by.
The original family still exists and it would be wonderful if this bug gets fixed some day. I am happy that I found an acceptable way to move on with the family. I don't know if this was random luck, but hopefully this can help someone if they don't mind the setbacks!
