crinrict Yes I have windows. I cleared my EA cache and I also have no mods, I repaired the game files and the same issue. When I click "new game" the game crashes and closes. When I try to load my games it says Error code 22 and then it asks me to choose a season to play in and when I do that it shows no household and zero funds so I can't do anything. There is also an error popping up in the corner when I open the game about Sims delivery. Also there is a random family of Sims that I never made on the screen when I open the game with a pink horse, a cat, a dog and some random sims. It started doing this after I downloaded the update with all the "bug fixes" yesterday. I saw another post about the smart app control option being on/off and mine is off and was already off when this happened.
could you check if your game was blocked by the controlled folder access of windows ?

Hey same issue kinda is happening to me… I’m getting that error code 21 and I’ve checked the windows 10 defender thing and it’s not being blocked by it. My game works and it’s updated it’s just doesn’t save. Please help it’s been a week…
Is defender the only antivirus program you're using ? Is Error 21 the only symptom you're getting ?
I don’t think so I have CCleaner 7 (I don’t even know if that’s an antivirus program lol). It appeared on my desktop randomly and asked if it was okay to make changes. I haven’t used it at all though. I think I deleted it or tried to at least a while ago. Also no I also get a sims delivery error. it’s error code 00000008:00000000000000c8 but usually it doesn’t affect my gameplay.
