Updated my game today (1.123.85.1020) and I am experiencing multiple issues but mainly the map selection.
Issue:
- When loading in, the first thing I noticed was the unusually long load time. I have a good, newly built computer that I have been using for a few months and it usually takes me a couple seconds to load into the game but this time it took almost two minutes, I timed it. (no other application has a long load time issue).
- Second thing was the family presented to me on the home screen seemed like a group of randomized sims I did not recognize.
- Third, when loading into my save file, it took me to the season selection screen.
- Finally when I loaded in to the world map selection area all the lots were glitched and unselect-able.
I do use some mods so I assumed that the issue was mod related (even though none of the mods I use were reported broken).
Tests:
- I quit the game, removed my mods and tried again only to get the exact same issue (unfamiliar family at main menu, select season for an active save file, glitched world map).
- Thought the save file was too influenced by mods so I quit and attempted to open a save file that I only use to build and nothing else. Similar issue but instead of a glitched map this time, the map did not load at all when selected but remained on a white screen.
- I exited and this time created a brand new game that mods would not have affected at all only to run into the same issue as above (white screen).
Does anyone know what could possibly be causing this issue?

It seems to have mostly been resolved since then, but it's also possible that your antivirus is having the same effect. So please check your AV for anything Sims-related, even if you only use Windows Defender. Controlled Folder Access causes problems with the game from time to time.
If your AV isn't the problem, let me know whether your user folder is inside the OneDrive folder. Here's how to find its location:

Thank you. When turning off the Smart App Control it still gave the same error but I assume my saves were corrupted by that point, despite me not saving the game or anything during the time of the issue, but thankfully I backed up right before I did anything because using the backup of my save made the issue go away!
