doing this one for a friend. her cas actually loaded but the pick a preference categories did not show up when she clicked on it. there's nothing there but the categories title. picture for reference...

could you please provide the following info:
- Are you using any mods/cc in your game and if so, did you test without them ?
- At which point does your game crash to the desktop ? Are you getting random crashes or just when trying to do this ?
I was using mods but I took them all out, uninstalled and reinstalled my game, repaired it and did not put anything back and ran the game with absolutely no mods and it was still happening. and now my friend says there's a whole category missing in CAS. iv tested my game 5 times without my mods and CC. it crashes when I try to go into CAS. it just quits responding
have you also tried a clean user folder ?
- Close the game
- Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
- Repair the game
- Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry.
- Start a new save game
- Check if you still have the error
- Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.
