[ROM] No Transparency in Fae-Away Stair Rail (Laptop Mode)

Greetings Sims 4 Community,

I was attempting to place some railings on a staircase and chose the Fae-Away Stair Railing, as I typically do. However, to my surprise—as you can see in the attached screenshot—it is no longer transparent. I’m not sure if this is a personal glitch or a broader game bug, but it has never occurred in my game before and only began happening after the latest update.

Notably, all other game railings are functioning properly, and I don’t have any mods installed. I hope this issue can be addressed and fixed soon by the EA team.

Thank you,

Alex The Huskarl

    Hi there
I tried to test in my data. But I couldn't reproduce.

All colors of that stair rail was display normally. And thinking that there might be a structural problem, I tried to reproduce as much as I could from your pic, but it still displayed normally.

I checked it on a desktop PC without Mod/CC.
Are you using a laptop? Also, do you have Laptop Mode turned on in Game Option > Graphic?

  • The issue was definitely caused by Sims 4's Laptop Mode. After disabling it, the railing is now back to normal. I didn’t know Laptop Mode could cause that kind of glitch. Thanks a lot!

    Hi there

I'm glad you found the source of the problem. But you didn't tell whether you're using a desktop or a laptop.
Could you tell us which you are?
That will help to decide how to handle this issue, I think.
That's important. Please come back and let us know.

  • It's a laptop. I thought playing in laptop mode would be better, but when I unticked that option, the graphics improved considerably and the problem disappeared. These are my laptop specs, in case you're interested:

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with Radeon Graphics, 1.80 GHz
Installed RAM: 12.0 GB (9.85 GB usable)
System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and Touch Input: Touch or handwriting input is not available for this display

    Hi there

    Thank you for your reply.
As you said, laptop mode is a mode for playing more comfortably on a laptop and for reducing the load on the PC. Therefore, if you experience display problems when using this mode, some kind of improvement measure is required.
I'm not very knowledgeable about technical matters, so I can't give you any more advice than that, but you may be able to give us more detailed advice. If necessary, I think you may have more detailed questions about the performance of your PC, etc.
    Hope your nice Sims.
