crinrict I managed to "fix" the bug by reapplying the affected beard to all the Sims. The beards stayed after reloading the game. However, I noticed that the order of the color swatches isn't the same as with the other beards.
So the bug likely comes from the color swatches. The incorrect ordrer of colors probably caused difficulties for the game in recognizing the item.
