Sim keeps putting infant down before putting them in crib et al.

A quick search on the bar said this was unique.

every time I queue up my parent sim to take care of her infant, she puts the baby down to sit down between each step, even going from the changing table by the crib to the crib has to be held up for the sim to go for a sit down. Tasks already take so long, but it took her all day to feed, change a diaper, and give a bath, interrupted as well by other sims. That cry is frustrating enough without the parent sims taking extra time like it!

The same issue is present for Sims. It has it's own thread here: Routing/Sit down issue on several interactions | EA Forums - 12348200

  • My sim parents refuse to put their toddler to sleep. They just pick her up walk a little then put her back down. Same thing for the toddler she won't go to bed.

I hadn't been seeing this with Growing Together installed, but I'm now playing without it, and I hit a continual cycle of telling a caregiver to put an infant to bed, then having them autonomously take them out and put them down, then telling the caregiver to put the infant to bed again only to have a caregiver put them down again.

As a mother: I want to breastfeed my baby, the mother goes up to the baby, picks it up, and puts it down.
As a father: I want to bottle-feed my baby, the father goes up to the baby and does nothing.
Where are those 140+ mistakes you fixed? xD

    no mods, lot of addons

The game is truly unplayable if you have a baby. It's a shame because I have three of them and they're threatening to take me away. I'm no longer playing The Sims until you guys step up and fix this. And I'm not alone because I see a lot of people having the same problem.

Yes, it is a problem. I know the frustration.

    1. Can you select the baby as the active sim then click on the parent and select the feed me option?   I have more success having the baby tell the parent what to do, which is messed up, but just another trick to make it work.  I always use this trick for baths.  Some of my sims hate bathing the baby and I don't understand it.
    2. If the parent energy or hunger level is yellow I've noticed that they don't want to take care of the baby.  Look for another adult with green bars.
    3. Higher level Parenting makes a difference. Level 10 gives you the super efficient baby care where they feed and change a diaper in one action.  I've also had some really attentive parents with lower level Parenting skill. I think the parent's traits definitely make a good or bad parent.
    4. When everything else fails or the nanny ignores the baby and all the baby's bars are red... I use cheats.  fillmotive is my friend.  Every baby would be taken without access to cheats.
  • Ever since purchasing and installing growing together, MY SIMS WONT LEAVE THE NEWBORN/INFANT ALONE, let alone actually do the task given to them that involves the child. I spent ten minutes trying to get my son to put the baby to bed in the crib and they repeatedly kept taking the child out and just setting them on the floor. Hate to say it but that kid is about to just be raise on the floor entirely with how many issues I’m having. I’m not sure the sims obsession with checking on the child as well. I have autonomy turned off so it shouldn’t happen yet here my sims are ignoring the off autonomy and giving themselves tasks that involves the infant. It’s making it impossible to play and enjoy playing children/infants. I was truly excited for  more “immersive” family dynamics
