On Xbox One.
I feel this the most with a big household (6 sims, 1 cat), they take forever to do anything, even the ones I am not playing will just stand arround motionless for long, like the game pauses or something, even canceling actions takes ages to register.
Its very annoying....

Btw these complaints date 2 years to 2 months again. WILL YOU EVER FIX A SINGLE IMPORTANT ISSUE?

Autonomy should be on EA priority list. Here are the top issues you EA should focus on instead of chickens (yes they are an issue but sure af not the biggest one) .
1. for years now your biggest problem is autonomy. It’s coded terribly. This right here is a symptom not a cause. This is part of the HUGE autonomy problem.
1. Sims freeze when assigned tasks. Considering the delay and poorly designed task wheel it’s an absolute **bleep** show2. sims cancelling assigned tasks. Just dropping them. It really is not that hard to code so user assignments are a priority. For my sim to stop cooking or doing anything I tell them to to check on the effing toddler that is already sleeping or getting up to eat on the toilet that I did not tell them to do is just unbelievably frustrating. Imagine trying to play a game which is supposed to be designed with the intention that a user directs their avatar, but instead the avatar (which is the main point of a life simulation game) never does what you tell them. Instead it prioritizes game assigned tasks randomly just because the game creator is too lazy to prioritize the very thing the game is designed to do. It’s been years. Just have the game do what you tell it. That is what sims is
For one second imagine you assign a task, speed it up. Then the game freezes (rather sims does because game clock apparently works just fine), your sim just stands there then you pause and the sims decides to cancel the task all together. You assign another task and your sim just goes off the screen. You can’t find them. So you Reset. Then you assign another task. The sims immediately cancels to do some other crap, then you assign multiple tasks and the game decides to reorder them in a nonsensical matter where your sim has to walk the entire perimeter and waste hours just for something that could have been done in seconds if they only did stuff as you told them to in the order you gave and not in the game order which decided to change the order of tasks assigned. Assign task again and the sim walks off and keeps walking. You tell them to stop. They don’t. Finally they stop but now they also cancelled the task you gave them. You try again and assign a task. You switch to your other sim. Come back just to find out the sims decided to delete the entire task assignment to do some other bs. So you click, wait for a task wheel, give the sim another task, cancelled, click, wait for task wheel give another task and sim just stands them, cancels, walks off to pee because at this point you did not play sims. You played fight with the sims 4 design game. Then you again try and sims does one thing then forgets half way and walks away. Is this note frustrating? So is the game. It’s not fun. It’s frustrating, infuriating and unpleasant. Fix autonomy. Lower autonomy to red needs only, stop auto bs when a player assigned tasks. If my baby dies so be it. It’s my game and if one effing parent is already there they don’t need to pass the baby like a football, I have to use mods on mods on mods just for the game to do anything at all. Just FIX THE AUTONOMY. It’s been years and you focused on small issues. They will need fixing but right now this game is unplayable.
PS: stop pretending the Gallery is working. It’s not. The additions were unnecessary. Also, just add more filters because many people # like morons creating a jumble of unfindable 💩. But first have the Gallery actually connect. Instead of shutting off after a few minutes. I can’t even go through my saved following picks without getting no results despite having no filters. The gallery is broken. Completely broken.

I have noticed this in my game as well, even in a brand new save. Sometimes resetting the Sim works, but I have found the most consistent success by sending the Sims to a different lot and then they reset themselves. I have noticed this issue persisting even when I exit the game and restart.

Yeah, I've been seeing that with Sims who have needs in the red. A really hungry Sim will stair at a plate of food but not eat it because their hunger puts them in a really bad mood. A really sleepy infant Sim will cry and fuss and ignore the parent's attempts to sooth the infant, refusing to go to sleep. (Hmm... on the other hand, that might be realistic for really sleepy infants...)

Ever since the last patch, my sims will randomly stop responding to things I told them to do. This happens after I cancel something they were doing and tell them to do something else. Instead of doing what I told them, they just stand there indefinitely until I go until build/buy and reset them. I've also noticed that this happens almost always when one of the sim's needs is in the yellow or red range.

I've been seeing this with infant care actions. The twins' hunger needs are low and getting lower, I've told their mother to help them explore foods in their high chairs, and she just stands there for several in-game minutes as her infants get more and more hungry. Canceling the actions and telling her what to do again didn't help. Finally, their father got home from work and fed one of the twins, and then their mother would feed the other.
It's tough enough to take care of infants (especially multiple infants) when the adults actually do the things they need to do. When the adults stand around doing nothing after you've told them what they need to do, it gets much harder.

Ever since the last update or since those free marketplace things dropped my sims literally can’t and won’t do anything. They may start an action I que up but it never finishes they just get stuck. Most of the time they don’t even start. I’ve tried resting, reloading, restarting, EVERYTHING. The game is literally unplayable now.

The moment I downloaded the Cottage Living expansion Nov 26, 2025 the game began to do this. I could live, but then I bought the Garden to Table pack and it has not been the same since. I bought an external drive with a terabyte and unlimited internet thinking it was the issue, but it was not. Giving up because I want more gameplay and build items, I recently took advantage of the publisher deal and bought over $99 worth of expansion packs- Get Together, For Rent, Island Living, Snowy Escape, and City Living and now it has become UNBEARABLE! It takes forever to load, and now it takes about 3 real life minutes and several clicks of an object for the action/task menu to appear then when I click she does not move, sometimes staying stuck for Sim hours, while gameplay like phone calls etc are happening. Moving the camera/scrolling to a different view? Forget about it! No CC. No Mods. This was reported 9 months ago but it's still happening.

After I pause and unpause the game my Sims get frozen and even when I reset them they don't move and are stuck in place and I can't press anything. My game hasn't crashed because of it though. I'm on ps5.
