Sims Character Not Moving At All

After the new update, it seems like my Sims are stuck. It's like they're dead. They won't move or do anything at all unless I have them do something. For example, after I have my sim repair a broken furniture, they would just stand there for the whole day doing nothing. And when my Sims come back from school or work, they would just stand outside the house and wouldn't come in or do anything at all. Usually, they would walk around or do random activities on their own, and would usually go inside the house themselves after school or work, but they can't anymore. They can't sleep, eat, shower, or even walk around, talk to each other, technically any activities on their own, I would have to force them do it essentially. It's like they're stuck or dead inside.

I checked for broken mods, and I have removed the broken ones, but it's still the same after I remove them. And usually when I have broken mods, my Sims wouldn't act up, it's usually the UI that becomes weird. I don't know whether anyone else has this problem, but this is one of the major bugs that I've noticed and has never happened to me before. Please fix ASAP, there are so many bugs because of the new update 😭.

  • Did you make sure autonomy is turned on for your Sims in the settings ?

    If so. try the following

    - Close the game
    - Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
    - Repair the game
    - Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry.
    - Start a new save game
    - Check if you still have the error
    - Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.

Hi! I tried every step you mentioned and it worked! The Sim is moving around and doing activities on their own again. How do I get all the old stuff back now?

    Hi cocobreadntoast

    glad to hear that.

You can now start to copy back things from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old to the new Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder that was created.

First only copy (I suggest to copy so you can go back in case anything goes wrong along the way) the content of the folder Saves (these are your save games). If you are prompted if want to overwrite a save, decide if you want to keep that testing save you just made or not. If not, just overwrite if, if you want to keep it, rename the save to a different number that isn't taken.

Test just your save game with nothing else added back. If that works, you can start copying back the rest. If not, check back.

You will need the following folders

    - Tray (your households and lots you have saved to library)- Custom Music (if you added any)
    - Screenshots (if you've taken any)
    - Videos (if you've taken any)
    - ConfigOverride (if you made any although I recommend redoing those)
    - Options(.ini) (although I recommend to just redo your settings in the game)

Now test again. If that still works, you can put back your mods. Put them back in groups and make sure they are still compatible with the game.

All other files are recreated and not needed.

I did all the steps, and it worked great! But when I tried putting the mods back, it wouldn't show up in game. I have mods for the loading screen and the main menu, and it showed up, but other than that, none of the other mods showed up. I have the mods and script mods enabled, but they still don't show up. What do I do? 😭
