Sims cut through each other in various circumstances. Be it walking, climbing ladders, or literally anything else, they constantly pass through each other like ghosts, regardless of how much space there is in a room.
I had a AVI video that I recorded using the game's recording feature (why is it not supported here if it's what you guys chose is beyond me), but I guess a screenshot will have to do.
Something's wrong here. When my sims are holding an infant, and autonomously decide to put it down, if the nearest playmat is already being used, it doesn't matter. They'll place the new child right on top of the one already there.
I do remember seeing images of similar glitches occurring from earlier on, before the latest patch. But I am seeing a whole lot more of this after the latest patch. Yes, I tested this in a home with 6 infants, because It sounded like the most thorough way I could test it. Your welcome.
Did someone forget to write an occupied status for the thing in its coding? I had absolutely NO Mods or Custom Content in my game when I saw this glitch. It is on an older save, but a new family.
I have used Mods before, but as I do whenever you Patch you game, I remove them all, and delete the cache files. The save was an empty save entitled Srsly's blank save that I found online. But I did as you suggested, and made a brand new game with brand new sims. I then put one infant on the Playmat, placed without cheats, as you suggest. It seemed fine at first, but then if I saved the game with the first baby on the playmat, and quit the game. Then reopened the game, my sims were able to place one baby on top of another again.
This happened when family visit for letting their infant to get Milestone. I replayed their visit after back to main menu without saving, but not happened same thing. This didn't create the last Exception.
I create this report because I found the report which report the similar issue in infant.
14 June 2026, PC, Never mods, CC removed before May update I searched bug reports using several terms and did not see any result like these photos. If this is a known issue, please move it.
Sims will occupy the same space and appear melded or merged together.

I don't know whether this is related, but I just told the adult to put an infant to bed in the right crib (the one in the red room). Instead, she put the infant to bed in the left crib (the one in the lavender room). Except that her twin sister was already in the left crib, which meant that there were two infants in the same crib.
Is this a new feature, being able to put two infants in the same crib?
There are a lot of twins in my game, so parents often have two infants and two cribs. I know the game doesn't support assigning cribs to specific infants the way that beds are assigned to specific older Sims, but I still like the idea of one infant in one crib, and the other infant in the other.
When an adult Sim is selected and I click on a crib and have the adult Sim put an infant to bed, then I expect that infant to be put in the selected crib. The adults are putting the infant in the crib that I did not select. Sometimes that just means that the infants end up sleeping in each other's cribs, which I find a bit confusing. Other times, the other infant is already in the other crib, and both infants end up in the same crib at the same time.
