For PC players. I found a solution that works for me through mods. It may not be the exact same as the base game before the broken update. I find it hard to be able to tell clearly.
I found and downloaded a mod called “flirting and mischief autonomy fixes” by onemorekayaker on Nexus Mods
What I like about this VS MC Command Centre is that it will not disable flirting entirely, it will just make it far less frequent and random as it is now in this game version.
Sims can still flirt when flirty autonomously
And Sims will ONLY flirt with their romantic partner if they have one.
The Modder goes into more detail on the actual mod download site, basically Adventure Awaits has a script that clashes with the base game (and other packs if you have them). Unless you have the DLC your game is fried and I just find that so unfortunate.
That makes sense that it's linked to something to do with Adventure Awaits because the trouble started for me around when that came out and I don't own that expansion.
