Sims stand/sit somewhere else instead of eating at table

This is not always the case. In my experience being alone has nothing to do with their behaviour.

Everytime my Sims grabs food from the fridge they either sit on a couch or go an eat at the bed (specially if there is another sim at the house) to start chatting. The dining table is right next to the kitchen but they go and eat elsewhere. Dining tables should be the most relevant option for them to eat and if you queue an activity like jogging, they will take the food with them instead on finishing their meal at the table

Sims don't sit down at the table. Every time I put dinner on the table, my Sims take a portion and instead of sitting down, they walk through the entire apartment looking for a seat. As a result, out of a family of six, at least two people sit at the table.

    I had just installed Sims 4 on Saturday (8 November 2025), and I have not installed any MOD, or any CC. However, when I try to let Sims to have meal on barstool, they just won't sit on the barstool to have meal, they rather stand in front of the fridge and eat it while standing, or they will go to a table located very far away ! (For example, fridge and barstool is at second floor, but they will go to first floor because a dining table and dining chair is located at first floor)

I have no idea why these bugs are happening, even I don't have any MOD installed, or any custom content. Would be really grateful if anyone can help me on this issue. 😣

Thank you so much for the merge! Now the problem is fixed and now they can sit on the barstool while having meal 😁😃

However, I have another "funny bug" now, haha! I let my sim to read a book but he choosed to read it while sitting at the edge of the pool, wearing swimming pants. That's a funny scene to witness, haha... but it is not a "constant" action so it's not much of a problem now, just sharing this funny story. I feel like he really wanted to swim instead of reading a book, hahahaha!

Please can you fix dinner parties so that everyone sits at the table and eats their meal without getting up constantly

could you give some more details ? There are several similar threads so do they get up and eat standing or just go to eat somewhere else or do they play musical chairs and sit on another chair ?

Sorry I didn’t realise it’s already been posted but yes it’s usually that some sims will eat standing up. I usually place a meal on a dining table and call to meal, then some sims will sit down but others will take a meal and stand up or go sit on chairs around the room rather than at the table.
