This is happening to me too, I create a sim and as soon as I load into my game, skin details and tattoos completely disappear. I do have mods / cc but they are fully updated.
Just replying to this to say this seems to happen when I add a lot of scars / tattoos / skin details. If it's only a few, it doesn't seem to happen.
