Stored Stacked Items Bugging Out

I am having an issue where stored stacked items (aka stacks of things in the fridge, flower arrangement station, storage chests, etc.) are bugging out. I'll kind of click and drag a stack to see how many are in it, then go to release it (because I'm just seeing how many are in the stack, not removing the stack), and it automatically picks up something else in there instead. It'll then get stuck in the "holding item" thing and I usually have to go into build mode to get them to release it. Furthermore, sometimes the items in the storage will stack on top of each other. For instance, the blueberries stacked on top of the lemons and now I have no idea how many I have of each. Sometimes a third or fourth thing will stack on top of that, so then it's just a bunch of random stacks all on top of each other.

However, the biggest issue (for me) when I check stacks of items like this is that I'm then unable to grab any item and move it, which includes items in sims' inventories. I can currently look at stacks in sims' inventories and move them into the fridge, storage chest, etc., without the same glitching, but if I go and look in the fridge to count how many of apples I have (to know if I am done with the plant and can put it away so I can shrink the garden), I can no longer move anything from their inventory into the fridge (including more apples, lemons, mushrooms, whatever) or into the flower arrangement station, etc. I have tried traveling, going into CAS, and switching households to see if it would fix it. Currently the only way I can find to reset it so I can move items from inventories again is to entirely exit the game and reload. For obvious reasons, this is annoying.
