During this scenario, when you need to be promoted to level 5 of the Tech Guru Career, it automatically skips to level 6. This means you can't complete the scenario step/goal to move forward with the story.
I tried to use "testingcheats true" and then "careers.demote TechGuru" but it just automatically fires you, you can't be at level 5, which renders the scenario impossible to complete.

I am having the same problem on xbox. Jumps straight from ace engineer to the next big thing.
In the “Living in the Shadows” scenario while playing as Nova, there is a required task to get promoted to Project Manager.
After completing all necessary requirements and sending Nova to work with only the promotion left, the game unexpectedly presents a career branching choice between “Start-up Entrepreneur” and “eSports Gamer”. This choice appears before the promotion to Project Manager becomes available.
You cannot proceed without selecting one of the two branches, and once you choose one, Nova is locked into that new career path, making it impossible to become a Project Manager and blocking the scenario’s proper progression.
I am playing on PS5.
This issue prevents players from completing the scenario as intended, so please investigate and fix it.

I'm playing the "Stuck in Their Shadow" scenario in The Sims 4, and I encountered a bug where the scenario does not progress after my Sim is promoted to Project Manager in the Tech Guru career.
Although the career panel shows that my Sim has been correctly promoted to the Project Manager position, the objective in the scenario does not update or complete. The mission still says “Get Promoted to Project Manager,” which blocks any further progress in the scenario
I am playing the scenario and Nova Curious gets a level 4 tech guru job and is immediately promoted to level 7 even with low work performance so ths quest stays stuck in fhe "project manager" promotion and I can't continue with the quest.
I am facing the exact same issue, no mods or anything I am playing just the base game. I tried twice to start the scenario again, I even started a new game but everytime she was promoted to level 6.
I have also experienced this bug. I have completed the scenario in the past on a different save, but now it always skips Project Manager, even with a clean install and no CC/mods.
