Townie NPC's start dating same gender even if set not to

I received a message that two of my male townie npc's started dating even tho both of their preferences are set to women only.

I thought it was a bugged message so I went to check and play as that sim and they really were in a relationship.

It also happened on Love Day if that matters. Below is what I have both of their preferences/gender set as.

What kind of message was it ? From the neighborhood stories like this known issue: Romantic Changes in Neighborhood Stories ignore sexual orientation | EA Forums - 11948921

Think the same is true for the Eco phone calls but can't find a separate thread for that.

Yes it was the neighborhood stories message. One of them who is my sim's friend texted me and said "I just got in a relationship with _____"
